There are many different maps that represent the urban rail transit system of Tokyo. Apart from the two subway operators, there are several other railway companies that make up the metro system. I’ve compiled a list of official and unofficial maps that squeeze all of these lines onto one map

Very interesting details by @aral@mastodon.ar.al how your Mastodon account can be problematic if you are too popular (and sociable).
You just get a lot of engagement and that requires a ton of Sidekiq power to process.
For example, let’s look at your birthday post … besides requiring thousands of Sidekiq jobs to spread your post through all their servers (you have 23K followers, let’s assume 3K different servers8), as soon as you create the post 3K Sidekiq jobs are created. At your current plan you have 12 Sidekiq threads, so to process 3K jobs it will take a while because it can only deal with 12 at a time.
Then, for each reply you receive to that post, 3K jobs are created, so your followers can see that reply without leaving their server or looking at your profile. Then you reply to the reply you got, another 3K jobs are created and so on.
If you replied to the 100 replies you got on that post in 10 minutes (and assuming my 3K servers math is right). You created 300K jobs in Sidekiq. That’s why you get those queues.

I really enjoyed reading @adactio article on how he writes alt texts and how to make them useful and not off-putting.
That doesn’t mean it’s okay to have the same alt text for each image—they are all still different. But after I had that realisation I stopped being too hard on myself if I couldn’t come up with a completely new and original way to write the alt text.
And, I remind myself, writing alt text is like any other kind of writing. The more you do it, the better you get.
It really begs the question: Do we really need jQuery today? That’s a question that GOV.UK has answered with a resounding “no”. In March of 2022, Matt Hobbs announced that GOV.UK removed their jQuery dependency. This is a big deal when it comes to the user experience, because GOV.UK provides services and information online for The United Kingdom at scale. Not everyone is tapping away on their 2022 MacBook Pro on a rip-roarin’ broadband connection. GOV.UK has to be accessible to everyone, and that means keepin’ it lean.
A good guide to Mastodon.

You have to be careful with the information you see online. Everything is not always true.
Here is an interesting card that lists the verified information and a description of the verification process.
The Russia-Ukraine Monitor Map is a crowdsourced effort by Centre for Information Resilience (CIR) and the wider open source community to map, document and verify significant incidents during the conflict in Ukraine. Its aim is to provide reliable information for policymakers, journalists as well as justice and accountability bodies about the evolving situations both on-the-ground and online.

I am a noob in terms of microphones. I’m currently looking for one for sampling sounds. The MC4 by Line Audio looks like a really good one at a descent price.
If you have any recommendations please share.
This little microphone has a natural, detailed and balanced response. Perfect for natural reproduction of acoustical instruments such as members of the bowed and plucked string-families, grand piano, brass, percussion, overhead choir and voice with a minimum of colouration.
